HHW Collection Program

Household Hazardous and Electronic Waste (HHW/E-Waste) collection events reopened with COVID-19 safety precautions. We ask that all attendees wear a face covering and remain in their vehicles with windows closed, if possible. Please stay home if you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, have been asked to quarantine, or have recently traveled internationally.

Event staff will only remove household hazardous and electronic waste from your trunk/pick-up bed. To dispose of sharps, you will be required to exit your vehicle and dispose of them in the designated area.

Protecting public health and the environment remains our highest priority and we look forward to resuming this beneficial program in a way that is safe for everyone. For more information, please contact (888) CleanLA.

Welcome to the Los Angeles County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program

The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program gives Los Angeles County residents FREE and convenient ways to dispose of unwanted items that cannot be thrown in the regular trash. The collection schedule can be viewed here. Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) is any product labeled toxic, poisonous, combustible, corrosive, irritant, or flammable. Some examples include antifreeze, batteries, cleaning supplies, unused non-controlled pharmaceuticals, fluorescent light bulbs, TVs, computers, and cell phones. By law, these products must be properly recycled or disposed of at a hazardous waste facility.

Hazardous waste from a single home may seem insignificant; but when millions of homes across Los Angeles County use similar products, the combined effect becomes a major problem. Make your own Alternative Household Products (PDF, 603KB, also en Español) using ingredients found in most household cabinets.

So, take part in our FREE programs in order to do YOUR part.
