CONSTRUCTION
Building and Safety
- Issue over 30,000 permits each year covering construction valued at approximately $2 billion. Eleven district and 17 branch offices enforce structural, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical codes through the plan check and inspection process in the unincorporated areas and in contract cities.
Geotechnical and Materials Engineering
- Ensure proper land development in the unincorporated areas from geology and soils engineering to subdivision mapping standards.
Land Development
- Provides technical review for subdivisions in the areas of hydrology, hydraulics, sanitation, grading, roadways, waterworks, and storm water control.
- Coordinate in-house CEQA reviews, including unincorporated private development and interagency projects within Los Angeles and other surrounding counties.
- Responsible for recording final maps that involve easement, condition, and boundary verification.
- Process and administer tax bonds, subdivision agreements, and improvement securities.
- Coordinates the transfer of miscellaneous drains from cities, as well as private drains to the Flood Control District for operation and maintenance, and provides contract mapping services for a number of cities in Los Angeles County.
Surveying/Public Records Counter
- Provide survey services for engineering and construction activities. Maintain a system of precise horizontal and vertical surveys necessary to accurately relate property and infrastructure records in our complex urban environment. Maintain and catalog public land/survey records.
