RNG Produced in California by CR&R Flows into SoCalGas Pipelines for the First Time

Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) and CR&R Environmental announced they are now injecting renewable natural gas (RNG) produced at CR&R's anaerobic digestion facility in Perris, California into SoCalGas pipelines. This is the first RNG produced within California to be introduced into SoCalGas' pipeline system, and it's being used to fuel about 400 of CR&R's waste hauling trucks.  To read more, click here.

CalRecycle Funds Anaerobic Digestion projects

The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery has awarded more than $25 million in California Climate Investments to bolster organics recycling infrastructure in the state and rescue edible food for Californians in need. The projects in 10 California communities are set to transform nearly a half-million tons of discarded food, green waste, and other organic materials into value-added products like biofuel, compost, fertilizers, and soil amendments.  To read more, click here.

CCST Report Assesses Specifications for Biomethane in California Common Carrier Pipelines

The California Council on Science and Technologys recent report reviews the minimum heating values for pipeline injection of biomethane and the maximum siloxane concentrations for biomethane.  The report also summarizes options for blending biomethane to meet California standards, as well as alternatives to upgrading and pipeline injection of biomethane. Additionally, the report describes current State and Federal programs that significantly subsidize biomethane for transportation.  To read more, click here.

California Judge Denies Petition to Stop $120M Waste Management Facility

A judge in California's Alameda County Superior Court has denied a legal petition by two Bay Area recycling advocates, seeking to halt a $120 million mixed waste facility proposed by Waste Management. The 62,000-square-foot project, which will include both an anaerobic digester and an in-vessel composting system to process recovered organics, would be located next to the company's transfer station in San Leandro.  To read more, click here.

With increasing disposal prices and foreign import restrictions, a new recycling facility that includes anaerobic digestion and biofuel production is underway in northern Maine. The facility is expected to be up and running by the end of this year.  The 144,000-square-foot facility is designed to be adaptable based on future market trends and changes.  To read more, click here.
