Waste Tire Recycling
ANTELOPE VALLEY: APRIL 10, 2004
WASTE TIRE COLLECTION EVENT

stacked tires In April 2004, the County and the Cities of Lancaster and Palmdale conducted their annual waste tire collection event in five locations in the Antelope Valley. The free event collected over 11,000 passenger equivalent tires. Residents took part in this and other events conducted during the 2004 Antelope Valley Environmental Pride Week. Other events included a household hazardous waste and e-waste collection, a Smart Gardening workshop, and neighborhood trash clean-ups. The California Integrated Waste Management Board helped sponsor the waste tire event. The majority of the tires collected were recycled into roofing shingles and loose playground fill.
