On Tuesday, November 16, 2010, the County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors adopted a prohibition on the purchase and use of all single use plastic carryout bags at County operations. The ordinance would, with amendments as passed, prohibit the distribution of single use plastic carryout bags at certain stores, as defined, in the County unincorporated area, and require said stores to charge 10¢ for each recyclable paper bag, as defined, provided to a customer.
At the same meeting the Final Environmental Impact Report for proposed ordinances to ban plastic carryout bags in Los Angeles County was certified.
