BEHAVIORS RELATED TO WATER POLLUTING AMONG ALL RESIDENTS
Over half of Los Angeles County residents claim to have changed behaviors related to runoff water pollution in the past five years.
- Most feel they have improved their habits related to litter reduction and the handling of automotive fluids.
- Some are also recycling more, using less water and/or keeping it from running into the street and reducing the use of hazardous products.
Based on a count of how many Los Angelenos are engaging in various pollution-causing behaviors each month, smokers are more likely to use an ashtray instead of the ground for their cigarette butts now than they were before the campaign began.
- This change accounts for at least 175,000 cigarette butts a month being disposed of properly instead of on the streets.
