Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Question:
QUESTION 1 WHEN GIVING PERMITS OUT FOR Building OF ANYTHING IN GENERAL DO YOU CHECK OTHER PROPERTIES AROUND THE PROPERTY FOR ISSUES LIKE EASEMENT RIGHTS AND PROPERTY LINES? BECAUSE THE ABOVE ADDRESSS DID NOT AND WERE GIVING PERMITS WHY!

Answer:
During plan check, before a building permit is issued, the Building and Safety Division of the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works does verify the clearances from property lines as required by the building code. The County of Los Angeles Department of Regional Planning must also approve construction plans to verify compliance with setbacks and clearances as required by the zoning code. In the field our building inspectors complete their inspections based on the approved plans. If you have any further questions please contact the office manager of the La Puente District Office at (626) 961 9611.

Violations of any private easements should be brought to the attention of the builder. If you suspect that a construction project encroaches on your property it is recommended that you obtain a survey from a licensed surveyor to support your findings.
