Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Question:
1) Are the design guidelines for the preparation of engineering plans for street design/ improvements available on-line?. Where can I find them?

2) Do you have a Flow Chart that will depict the street improvement approval process and all the department, divisions and agencies involved?

Thank you.

Answer:
Thank you for contacting the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works.

Design guidelines for street improvement projects in unincorporated areas are not currently available online. A comprehensive flow chart showing the design approval process for these projects has not been developed.

The specific design guidelines and approval process will depend on whether the project is prepared by the private owner or by the Department of Public Works.

For street improvement projects that will be prepared and constructed by private owner/developers or their consultants and that will be submitted to our Land Development Division for a permit approval, please contact our Andy Narag at 626-458-4921.

For street improvement projects that will be designed and constructed by the Department of Public Works design engineers, please contact Andrew Ngumba or Farhad Agahi of Design Division at 626-458-7800.
