Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Question:
I recently heard from a colleague that paper that has ink on it can`t be recycled. I wanted to write and find out if it`s true. We were talking about plain white paper that has been printed or copied on using an office printer and copy machine. Thanks in advance for addressing my question.

Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry.

In general, the ink used on a piece of paper will not affect its recyclability. During the paper recycling process, paper will be repeatedly de-inked until they become white and can be made into new paper. The types of paper that are not recyclable are wet paper or cardboard, coated and treated paper, and paper or magazine laminated with plastic.
