Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Question:
I have noticed for months now that the San Dimas Wash that crosses Azusa Ave has a very large amount of water running through it consistently. Could you please tell me why this is happening, especially when we are in a severe drought.

Answer:
The water flowing in San Dimas Wash is water that's imported from northern California that's being used to infiltrate into the groundwater aquifer at Public Works facilities located in Pico Rivera. This water has been purchased by a water agency and is critical in recharging the groundwater aquifer system. None of the water is being wasted, but rather is being allowed to percolate into the ground. The delivery of this water is scheduled to end in mid-April.
