How is this information going to be used?

The completion of this study represents the first step in providing quality information identifying the local streets and roads needs statewide. Sustaining this effort will be very important. To be successful in conveying our message a consistent systematic approach in determining the needs must be in place.

The Oversight Committee has developed an outreach/communications action plan that will convey the results of this study to the public, media, local and regional agency officials, State Legislature, and the Governor. Although the State’s finances are at a point where obtaining additional transportation dollars to address these needs may be difficult, the prospects of having our already insufficient local road funds reallocated to address the state’s budget woes is a very real concern. The information from this study will hopefully not only be helpful in preventing this from happening but will establish in the decision makers minds the need for more transportation funding for local streets and roads. The outreach plan will involve agency officials presenting the study’s findings to their local elected officials in January 2010. For more information regarding the project status, click here.
