The County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works is the place to be
Teams of trained engineers working under professional supervision carry on the work
of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works. A Civil Engineering Assistant
may be responsible for the following essential functions: assist in the performance
of detailed civil engineering work related to the design, location, construction and
maintenance of Public Works structures, facilities, or projects. Work assigned to new
graduate engineers is considered qualifying by the California State Board of Registration
for Civil and Professional Engineers for participation in registration examinations.
Requirements: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a civil
engineering curriculum approved by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
Civil Engineering Assistant Salary: $5,014.18 - $5,900.27.

Employees assigned to the Alhambra headquarters building are placed on a four day, forty
hour workweek. Other field facilities offer a 9/80 or a five day, forty hour workweek.
