Environmental Review

As the clearinghouse for the Department of Public Works, the Land Development Division reviews numerous applications for compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Private development projects in the unincorporated County of Los Angeles are routed to Public Works through the Department of Regional Planning. The Land Development Division compiles the comments of the various Public Works divisions and works with the Department of Regional Planning to make sure all the environmental issues are addressed. Projects initiated in other jurisdictions are sent directly to the Land Development Division, which compiles the comments of the various Public Works divisions and forwards them directly to the jurisdiction that initiated the project.

The Department of Public Works only reviews projects for compliance with issues that fall under our purview. These issues are listed in the following document with the notation “DPW.”
