COUNTY APPROVES EXTENDING EL SOL SHUTTLE SERVICE HOURS TO COMPLEMENT THE NEW GOLD LINE TRAIN SERVICE IN EAST L.A.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina has announced the Board's approval of a contract amendment to the El Sol Shuttle service agreement.  The change will increase the shuttle operating hours and include Sunday service.  This increase in service will provide daily connections to the Gold Line which runs Monday through Sunday.

The new El Sol operating hours, beginning on November 15, 2009, are Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday, 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"This service extension will now provide residents of the East Los Angeles area with an opportunity to climb aboard the County’s community bus and connect to the Gold Line seven days a week", Supervisor Gloria Molina said.

The fare is 25¢.  It is free for senior citizens age 60, people with disabilities, children under 5 years of age, and Metro pass holders.

"Public Works is pleased to join with Supervisor Molina to bring improved transit services to the Community.  Providing daily transit access is another example of Public Works' mission to enhance communities through responsive and effective services," said Los Angeles County Public Works Director Gail Farber.
