Zone 37 Castaic Hillcrest
Proposition 218 Vote - Raise Annual Assessments
On Tuesday, July 24, 2018, the Board of Supervisors held a public hearing for the proposed rate increase for Zone 37 (Castaic Hillcrest). At the close of the public hearing, all submitted ballots were tabulated and it was determined that there was NO majority protest. This means that there were more "YES" than "NO" votes.
Subsequently, the Board of Supervisors adopted a Resolution to Order the rate increase.
More details on the maintenance contract and a schedule for when the new maintenance scope will go into effect will be provided shortly.

This zone consists of approximately 40 acres of ornamental structures, landscaping, including trees, shrubs, grass, and other ornamental vegetation, and appurtenant facilities, including irrigation systems, and drainage devices located in public places within the boundaries of the Zone, which encompasses several residential tracts along Hillcrest Parkway from I-5 Freeway to Barcelona Rd.
Maintained improvements consist of flat areas, slopes, and open space. The tree landscaping is crape myrtle, and Australian willow. Shrubs/groundcover is turf, acacia, rosemary and pittosporum.
Services include, but are not limited to the following:
- Irrigation maintenance and repair
- Pest control
- Fire protection brushing in natural areas 100' from dwellings and structures

- $655 per parcel
- 897 parcels
- The cost to be assessed on each parcel is determined by dividing the total amount to be assessed by the number of assessable parcels within the Zone.
