Los Nietos Safe Routes to School - Phase 2

  • Project Scope:
    The primary objective of this project is to construct pedestrian access improvements at 10 signalized and non-signalized intersections and sidewalk gap closure at 1 location. The project also includes: - Construction of bulb-outs - Installation of countdown pedestrian heads and audible push buttons - Enhanced crosswalks and upgraded curb ramps - New sidewalk and sidewalk improvements
  • Project Benefits:
    This project will enhance the overall safety of pedestrians by increasing their visibility and shorten the time in which the pedestrians will be in the roadway. It will promote a walkable environment and improve accessibility for area residents, especially students.
  • Community Engagement:
    A project information flyer and a pre-construction brochure will be provided after the project has been awarded.
  • Project Location:
    Ten intersections in the unincorporated community of Los Nietos north of Washington Bl.
  • Cost Estimate:
    Total Project: $3,600,000 Construction Costs: $1,850,000 Reimbursable Grant Funds: $1,452,000
  • Economic Impact:
    Project construction supports 16 direct and indirect jobs.
  • Schedule:
    - Final Plans – May 2022
    - Advertise for Construction Bids – Nov 2022
    - Start of Construction – Jul 2023
