Regional Program Funds
Fifty percent of Safe, Clean Water Program revenues are used to fund stormwater projects and programs at the watershed level. This portion of funding (referred to as the Regional Program) is distributed among nine watershed areas, to be programmed by the respective Watershed Area Steering Committees. The percentage of funds received by each Watershed Area is proportional to the tax revenues collected within its boundaries.

Municipal Program Funds
Forty percent of Safe, Clean Water Program revenues are allocated directly to municipalities to fund local stormwater projects and programs. This portion of funding (referred to as the Municipal Program or Local Return) is distributed to municipalities proportional to the tax revenues collected within their boundaries.

Revenue Generation
Revenues from the Safe, Clean Water Program are generated from a special parcel tax on private properties in the LA County Flood Control District.

Total Program Collections
Each year, County Auditor Controller distributes Safe Clean Water Tax Revenue To the Flood Control District, who will then disburse these funds back to the various municipalities, watersheds, and other programs within the Safe Clean Water Program.
