Residents in the unincorporated Los Angeles County area of Bassett/Valinda/South San Jose Hills are now enjoying the benefits of the County’s new franchise solid waste collection system, such as twice annual unlimited bulky items curbside collection, an annual curbside clean-up event in unlimited amounts, four community clean-up projects, senior discounts and roll out services for qualifying residents, additional household hazardous waste round-up events (includes universal waste), and electronic waste collection events. Valley Vista Services has signed an agreement with the County to provide exclusive waste disposal and recycling services to the residents of Bassett/Valinda/South San Jose Hills.
NEW RATE As of July 1, 2011, the new rate for basic service is $27.90 per month or $83.70 per quarter. The discounted senior rate is $20.93 per month or $62.78 per quarter. This accounts for changes in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), Producer Price Index (PPI), and solid waste disposal tipping fees. These rates were calculated in accordance with the terms of the franchise and was reviewed and verified by the County to ensure the adjustment is justified.As part of the new service, each household received three 96-gallon containers free of charge: one green container for yard waste, one brown container for refuse, and one blue container for recycling. If you need more containers for either recylables or green waste, you may receive one of each at no additional cost, upon request. If you would like to exchange the 96–gallon carts for smaller carts, such as 64–gallon or 33–gallon carts, or receive additional carts, call Valley Vista Services at (800) 442–6454 to arrange an exchange. Customer Self-Haul: Residents may collect trash in their own containers and transport the waste in their own vehicles to a recycling or disposal facility.
