RMDZ Advantages
Is Your Business Eligible to Receive Assistance
from Los Angeles County RMDZ?
Eligibility
To be eligible for the program, your company must:
  1. Be located within the Los Angeles County RMDZ
  2. Use an eligible material in manufacturing a recycled-content product or process materials for recycling
Eligible Materials
CIWMB has identified the following as priority materials:
  1. Plastic
  2. Paper
  3. Waste Tires
  4. Agricultural waste
  5. Green waste
  6. Construction and Demolition debris
CIWMB intends to focus its resources on diverting and developing sustainable markets for these priority materials.
Ineligible Materials
Materials which have a history of being recycled and/or any material for which it is illegal to dispose of in a California landfill. These materials include:
  1. Metals (historical and established infrastructure for recycling)
  2. Electronic waste (computers, televisions, and any item which operates on battery power and/or has an electrical cord)
  3. Batteries of any kind
  4. Medical waste including SHARPS (needles, lancets, and other devices that are used to penetrate the skin for the delivery of medication)
  5. Hazardous waste
  6. Radioactive waste
Eligible Projects
How do I know if my project is eligible? If it is similar to these projects, it likely qualifies. Please contact the administrator of the Los Angeles County RMDZ for further information.

Waste Prevention Projects

  1. Modifying equipment or processes to produce a product using less raw material
  2. Purchasing equipment in order to reduce waste generation

Reuse Project

  1. Sorting construction and demolition debris
  2. Preparing reclaimed lumber for resale

Recycling Projects

  1. Manufacture a recycled-content product
  2. Produce a recycled-content feedstock (examples include plastic flake and crumb rubber)

Conversion Technology and Biomass Projects

  1. Conversion technology (thermal, chemical, or biological)
  2. Biomass (biomass fuels such wood or agricultural waste)
