Rockwood Recycling, Carlex Glass Americas Named to 2018 Environmental Leader 75 List

Two Tennessee energy professionals have been named on the 2018 Environmental Leader 75 list because of their work with the Lebanon Gasification Initiative. They work on a waste-to-energy plant which uses downdraft gasification to convert wood waste to fuel.  To read more, click here.

Gasification Yields Improve with Plastic Feedstock

Research studies show the addition of recovered plastics to biomass in gasification can increase the quality and volume of the end product.  Using often-landfilled plastics, researchers found the results to show an increase in synthetic gas produced through gasification.  To read more, click here.

Toronto May Take From Curb to Fuel Tank

The City of Toronto is developing renewable natural gas infrastructure that has the potential to represent a fully closed-carbon loop that could fuel its fleet from modified biogas processed at its anaerobic digestion facilities.  The City is looking to expand an organic processing facility and build a biogas clean up facility to produce renewable natural gas.  The gas will eventually be enough to fuel about 300 collection trucks a year.  To read more, click here.

DVO Commissions Anaerobic Digester Installation in Pennsylvania

Installation and construction are complete on a DVO Inc. anaerobic digester at Ar-Joy Farm, a dairy farm in Cochranville, Pennsylvania.  The anaerobic digester will take waste from the farm as well as local organic waste streamsto deliver renewable electricity to the local grid.  To read more, click here.

DOE Offers Bioenergy Research Funding Opportunities

U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry announced four funding opportunities totaling to $78 million to support early-stage bioenergy research and development.  The Department of Energy aims to develop conversion processes for improving the affordability of fuels and products from biomass and waste streams and is seeking researching proposals on topics such as conversion of wet organic wastes to biofuels, bioproducts, and biopower.   To read more, click here.
