The City of Maywood is developing seven parcels into the Maywood Riverfront Park.
Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority (MRCA) assisted the City with the
acquisition and development of the Catellus site. Trust for Public Land
(TPL) is currently assisting the City with property acquisition and
recently transferred the W.W. Henry property. The remaining properties
are either undergoing remediation, environmental review, or negotiations
for acquisition. The City has received funding through the County 1996
Proposition A funds, the Caltrans' Environmental Enhancement Mitigation
Program, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency through the
Gateways Cities Council of Governments.
The City of Maywood is the most densely populated city in California.
There are only two parks in the City that together make up 5.8 acres.
The creation of this Maywood Riverfront Park will more than double the
park area.
