Bassett High School
Multi-Benefit Stormwater Capture Project

BENEFITS

WATER QUALITY

New infrastructure will divert and treat stormwater runoff to help improve the water quality of our rivers, channels and ocean.

WATER SUPPLY

Captured stormwater runoff will be diverted into an infiltration gallery beneath the open field, where it will percolate and recharge the groundwater aquifer.

COMMUNITY ENHANCEMENT

Enhanced athletic fields and new gardens with hundreds of new trees provide shade and a cooling effect. A brand-new pocket public park will be created through this project as well.

EDUCATION

Educational signage will increase public awareness on sustainable development and the health of the San Gabriel River watershed.

The proposed Project is located in the unincorporated County community of Bassett and serves to improve water quality in the San Gabriel River while enhancing school fields. The Project will include construction of new drainage infrastructure to capture and treat stormwater and enhancements to the fields, including drought tolerant landscaping with educational signage, enhanced athletic fields, and a pocket park available for public use.
