Roadmap to a Sustainable Waste Management Future

Roadmap

In October 2014, the Board of Supervisors adopted the Roadmap to a Sustainable Waste Management Future, which established waste diversion targets of 80 percent by 2025, 90 percent by 2035, and 95 percent or more by 2045. The Roadmap lays out the general framework for strategies and initiatives the County can use to decrease reliance on landfills by maximizing the recovery of products, materials, and energy from waste that would otherwise be disposed at landfills.

The successful development of CTs is important to achieving these targets since it is not economically feasible to reduce, reuse, or recycle the entire waste stream.
