GENERAL DISSEMINATION
This website page is for our dissemination of information of a general global nature. Its contents are generally applicable and of interest to all of the city customers. While the traffic signal maintenance agreements define the general operating parameters of the TSM program, it does not provide too many specifics. Since traffic signals and their standards evolve, it would be an impossible task to maintain an updated formalized agreement with all of our specific maintenance procedures.
Numerous specific standard operating procedures are provided herein and more will be periodically added. We welcome feedback and suggested additional topics that can be added to the page.
Note that these procedures and practices only represent the procedures and practices developed within the County TSMprogram. We are not in any way endorsing their use by other agencies. All situations are different and each agency must independently analyze their individual circumstances.

6/2/2008: LED conversion of traffic signal vehicle heads
For traffic signal vehicle indications utilizing incandescent lamps, it has been a considerable period of time since we were last able to purchase incandescent lamps for replacement. It has been our standard maintenance practice that in any incandescent lamp being used as a vehicle indication fails, we will replace it with an LED indication. This will necessitate minor rewiring. In addition and to achieve cost efficiencies, if any such lamps fail, we will take advantage of the situation and replace all of the incandescent lamps within the vehicle head section to LED indications.

6/2/2008: LED conversion of traffic signal pedestrian head displays
We no longer have a purchasing agreement for the neon style pedestrian head modules. Due to their excessive energy usage, their sale is prohibited within the State. Our agreement allows for the purchase of LED style only. If neon displays fail, they will be replaced with LED style display modules.

6/2/2008: Replacement of non-ADA compliant pedestrian push buttons
We no longer have a purchasing agreement for the small diameter push buttons as they are viewed to not be in ADAcompliance. Any failed push button assembly will be made ADAcompliant by using an assembly with the larger diameter button. Replacement will be made at the affected button location only.
