Update Process

What were the steps included in the update

The FMP update process began in August of 2014. The comment period for the Draft FMP ended on July 7, 2016. The process included the following:

  • Creating a Steering Committee
  • Conducting Steering Committee Meetings to guide the FMP’s development
  • Modeling FEMA’s Hazus Program using the County’s information
  • Evaluating the flood hazards
  • Developing mitigation measures
  • Conducting public meetings to inform the public and solicit input
  • Adopting the FMP by the County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors
