North East Trees, a local non-profit urban forestry group,
is installing the LA River Greenway between Sunnynook Drive and
Taylor Yard in Elysian Valley. The Greenway project involves the
installation of native landscaping along this portion of the Los
Angeles River. In addition, North East Trees has collaborated
with the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority (MRCA)
to construct a pocket park at Fletcher Drive and the River, called
Rattlesnake Park. At the entrance to Rattlesnake Park is the Great
Heron Gate, designed by local artist Brett Goldstone and commissioned
by Friends of the Los Angeles River with funding from MRCA. North
East Trees also commissioned Brett Goldstone for the Water and Rocks
Gate at the eastern Fletcher Drive entrance to the River.
