Commercial Trash Collection Franchise
As of July 1, 2012, all unincorporated County residents and businesses that utilize dumpster and/or roll-off trash collection service, such as commercial and multi-family properties, are now receiving new and improved trash collection and recycling service. The County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors awarded franchise agreements to qualified waste haulers to provide commercial trash collection services within all of the unincorporated County areas.
The non-exclusive franchise system replaced the previous open-market system mainly due to new State recycling laws, public attitudes towards protecting the environment, customers' desire for enhanced recycling and collection services, and diminishing landfill space.
As part of the new service, commercial customers will enjoy:
● free recycling services and on-site consultations
● free bulky item and electronic waste collection
● free holiday tree collection
● graffiti removal
● clean fuel collection trucks to reduce air pollution and noise
● customer dispute resolution
Los Angeles County is developing the scope of work for a new commercial trash collection franchise, to be released for proposals in 2021. Preliminary information can be found in this presentation here and this workshop recording here
