About DPH-Environmental Health

The Environmental Health Division is a branch of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, tasked with protecting the public’s health by assessing environmental conditions, reducing health risks, and educating the public. Their role in EPIC-LA involves using the system for unified plan review of fire rebuild applications for properties with an onsite wastewater treatment system (OWTS) and the review of temporary housing applications for properties within the areas affected by the Palisades and Eaton Fires in the unincorporated communities of Los Angeles County and incorporated cities that have entered into a contract with the County for OWTS regulation.

The division also provides plan review, consultation and conditions of approval and/or mitigation measures on projects (new and renewals) utilizing public water and public sewer, private wells, septic systems or small community wastewater systems subject to discretionary review by the Department of Regional Planning.
