 Free Disposal Day at Chiquita Canyon Landfill

Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger in partnership with Chiquita Canyon Landfill, present this event for residents in the unincorporated communities of Castaic and Val Verde may take up to one ton of trash, including furniture, appliances, and other bulky items, free of charge, to Chiquita Canyon Landfill on December 7, 2019. In addition, residents of the Val Verde community may take smaller unwanted items to the roll-off bin located at San Martinez Road and Waterman Road.  Free Mattress Recycling Collection Events in the Antelope Valley and Sierra Pelona Mountain Areas

Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, in partnership with the Antelope Valley Illegal Dumping Task Force, will host free mattress collection/recycling events in the Antelope Valley. Residents may drop off up to 10 mattresses/box springs on the following dates: November 9th(Lake Los Angeles), November 30th(Littlerock), December 7th(Quartz Hill) and December 14th(Lake Los Angeles). Only mattresses and box springs will be accepted – no other type of bulky items.  For event details, please click here.

 Every Drop Counts

Did you know that used motor oil never wears out and can be recycled and reused? Motor oil improperly disposed onto the ground or into storm drains can contaminate and pollute the soil, groundwater, and the ocean. Take your used motor oil to one of 650 certified collection centers in California or an auto parts store in your area to be recycled for free. Click here for more information.

 Report Abandoned Shopping Carts

Report abandoned shopping carts to the California Shopping Cart Retrieval Corporation at (800) 252-4613, by email, or online. iPhone users can download the CartSnap app to report abandoned shopping carts. 

 Environmental Programs Public Counter

Visit the Environmental Programs Division Public Counter to get forms, apply for permits, request technical reviews for industrial waste or underground storage tank plans or methane gas migration protection systems. We are located in the Annex Building of the PW Headquarters (map), (626) 458-3517, open Monday - Thursday, 7 am - 5 pm.
