The content of this page will provide guidance through the Certificate of Correction review and recording process for subdivisions in the unincorporated areas, and all 88 cities of theLos Angeles County.
A Certificate of Correction is used to make minor changes to a recorded final map per Section 66469 of the Subdivision Map Act. Changes can be made to correct error in any course, property description, location and character of monuments, and any additional information recorded pursuant to Section 66434.2 that does not affect any property right.
Below are some tips and tools to help in preparing the Certificate of Correction.

In order to properly process your submittal and to facilitate review of your project, please submit all of the applicable required items below. It is our policy to review only completed submittals. Submittals that are not complete or do not contain the necessary references, documents, or supporting calculations may be delayed or rejected. All documents should be submitted electronically, using PDF format, to EPIC-LA. If you have already formally submitted a plan check package in the past and you wish to upload revised documents, you must resubmit to Epic-LA under the existing plan case. Review fees are required to process your certificate of correction. You can pay the review fees in person or online using e-check (for charges less than $100,000.00) / credit card (for charges less than $50,000.00). After you have submitted your items for review, your plan checker will create a fee invoice that you can view and pay in Epic-LA under your plan case.

Submit my certificate of correctionFor each submittal, a check print showing plan check comments will be generated by the plan checker and sent to the applicant. They will also address deficiencies in the document and inform you of supporting documents that are needed in order to obtain the technical approval. After your Certificate of Correction document is approved, an original Certificate of Correction, signed and stamped by your licensed land surveyor will be required to be mailed in or delivered in person to Land Development Division (address shown here):

Once we receive the signed Certificate of Correction, it will be processed and delivered to the County Recorder's Office for recordation. A copy of the recorded Certificate of Correction will be sent to our Survey/Mapping and Property Management Division to be attached to the associated recorded Final Map on file in the database. Applicant can obtain a copy of the recorded Certificate of Correction from County Recorder's Office using the recorded Instrument Number or by accessing Land Records Information at our website.
